Andrew Moran has been named the head basketball coach at Christopher Columbus High School.
Moran, 36, founded Miami Hoop School, a player development program, six years ago and has been an NBA Skills Trainer as well as International Clinician.
“I’m very excited to join the Columbus community,” Moran, a Coral Gables High grad, said. “The opportunity to build a program alongside all the other successful teams Columbus has is exciting. I plan to get the alumni involved in the program and create a basketball culture.”
Moran was the head basketball coach at Miami Christian School during the 2015 season, leading the Victors to a state championship. He also spent two seasons working with the Miami High Stingarees.
“Andrew has tremendous experience and will fit right in at Columbus,” Athletic Director Chris McKeon said. “All in all, he was the right fit.”
Moran replaces Henry Lorenzo, who was Columbus’ head coach for 10 years and compiled a record of 175-96 during his time on the bench for the Explorers.
